Hotel Review: Sandalwood Luxury Villas Ko Samui

Koh Samui is a perfect tropical getaway for their crystal clear water and beaches, luxury resorts, and posh spas. According to Wikipedia, it is the second largest island, lies in the Gulf of Thailand off the east coast of the Kra Isthmus. We had a short and relax trip this time around and most of the time just lazying around at Sandalwood Luxury Villas that located uphill surrounded by nature.

We were greeted by the driver from Sandalwood who holding a big play card with my name on it once we touched down in Samui airport and being ushered into a private 4WD waiting to send us away to the villas. After 30 minutes later, we are finally here at the place we stayed! Sandalwood is located on a hill just off the main ring road that encircles the island. They are 150 meters up the hill above Coral Cove Beach, halfway between Chaweng Beach and Lamai Beach.

Welcome drinks being served

Fruity passion fruit drinks being served upon our arrival while waiting for the front desk processing for room check in and brief us on the villas. While waiting for my room to be ready, I took a walk around the lobby which overlooks the amazing sea and the infinity swimming pool. Each intimate and secluded villa has a panoramic ocean view and is linked by landscaped gardens with intricate stone walkways.

THE ROOM

During my trip to Samui, I stayed in the Jasmine Villa at Sandalwood Luxury Villa Samui – The Ocean View Jacuzzi Villa with Loft. There is only 15 units villa on the property.   Some villas come with their own private pool suitable for family with kids.

The loaf in the Jasmine Villa

The Jasmine Villa is a beautiful and romantic villa featuring two sleeping areas; a king size bed on the main level and a queen size bed in an open loft. The open loft provides a second sleeping area and is an ideal retreat for children, complete with its own flat screen TV, DVD player, and air conditioning unit.

The living area on the main floor of the villa includes a 42-inch flat screen TV with DVD player, loveseat, coffee table and desk. The wood and marble bathroom features a Jacuzzi tub for two with views of the ocean. There is also a kitchenette with a microwave and a stocked mini-bar refrigerator.

Sandalwood amenties

Sliding glass doors open from the main floor to a wraparound terrace with sweeping panoramic views of the coastline and outer islands. The terrace is furnished with a lounge chair, armchair, dining table and daybed.

Complimentary water, tea and coffee is also provided and wine glasses are ready for honeymooners to enjoy your wine at the terrace outside the room facing the sea with non stop panoramic stunning views over the ocean. I received some fresh fruits and dragon fruit as a welcome amenity – these proved to be awesome when you are having constipation during the trip! haha

DINING

There is one and only main dining spot on Sandalwood: The Ginger Restaurant specialises in Thai and Western cuisine. Other than dining at the restaurant itself, you are able to prebook a private catering with them given is a romantic dinner for two in your own private villa or a group of friends and family up to fifty pax.  In addition to hosting larger events in the Blue Ginger Restaurant, you have access to a variety of property venues that make for wonderful cocktail and dining events. This includes the main pool and lobby area, the rooftop decks at both their spa and restaurant, poolside at Jumpee Villa swimming pool and the balcony and pool area of the large three-bedroom Leelawadee Villa.

THE SANCTUARY SPA

Something missing from the post? Yes, no vacation be completed in the luxury resort without a spa treatment. The Sanctuary Spa at Sandalwood is an oasis of beauty, calm and peace nestled into lush landscapes, while being only steps away from your villa.  Welcomed by the massage therapist upon entering The Sanctuary Spa and experience a food scrub while listen to them explaining on the types of essential oil will be used during our spa treatment on our preferred scent. they explaining different type of essential oils for us.  It is the perfect place to relax, unwind and escape from the outside world with a massage, body scrub, steam bath, facial, manicure or the latest beauty therapy here.

There are two private air-conditioned treatment rooms suitable for couples and an open-air rooftop massage sala with sweeping panoramic views of the coastline and the outer islands. Please arrange and book your spa treatment time slot earlier to avoid any disappointment.

Overall Review: Sandalwood Luxury Villas
Sandalwood Samui is a perfect getaway for couple and family but not so much for elderly as it is located way up on hill so this will be troublesome for senior citizens to climb up and down. The hotel is ideal for those who are looking for peace and want to get away from nature and the seclusion. Free shuttle service provided for certain timing, additional charges will be applied if you require more trips down to Lamai, Chaweg and Bophut beach. 4 days 3 nights just nice for us to explore the island as well as relaxing in the villa to get recharged.

*Will I be back to the hotel?*

Yes, I like the privacy and peace you get to enjoy up on a hill with stunning panoramic ocean view. Definitely will come back when I need a short beach vacation to run away from the busy city life.
