“Yay, I have a long layover in Shanghai!” Most of the traveler hates long layover as they wish to return home as soon as possible. Let’s be positive and treat it as an opportunity to visit a place that wasn’t in your plan. This can be another unexpected trip with a lot of surprises!
Shanghai is one of the biggest cities and global financial hub in China; it is certainly a place full of historic districts and attractions. I’m gonna list out some of the major attractions that you can tick off your bucket list in Shanghai.

The Bund (外滩)

One of the famous attractions in Shanghai located centrally within the city center along the Huangpu River. This is the place where you get the great photo opportunities with the electric views at night. Make sure you take a walk along the promenade or take a river cruise to see the night views of the cities with neon lights.

Yu Garden (豫园)

Pay Yu Garden a visit if you have some extra time to spare before your next flight. Yu Garden is one of the popular tourist attractions in the Old Town. This is the place for those who loves Chinese architecture, greens, lakes, etc. Yu Garden is composed of six scenic areas: Sansui Hall, Wanhua Chamber, Dianchun Hall, Huijing Hall, Yuhua Hall, and the Inner Garden. You basically get to shop anywhere in Shanghai. There is a Yuyuan Bazaar right next to Yu Garden. It has a great number of small streets and lanes where you can find many restaurants, tea houses, and shops. It is a good place to sample some local snacks and buy some souvenirs.
