Crete may not be as popular as compared to other Greek islands but i would highly recommened this island all of you following my visit. Crete is Greek's largest island, situated on the southern side of the Aegean Sea. The main four regions are Rethymno, Chania, Lasithi and Herakloin. Due to time constrains, i eventually decided on the places reviewed after days of struggling because there are just too many amazing postcard perfect destinations to tick off!

BEACHES

After long struggle, we decided on Elafonissi beach which takes 1.5 hour drive from Chania airport and I must say that this is one of the nicest beaches we have ever been! Watch out on narrow road though when you drive there.

BALOS BEACH
Another stunning beach located at Kissamos that is not too far from Elafonissi Beach. It’s one of the most photographed beaches for its white sand.
MONASTERY CHRISOSKALITISSA

Another 5 minutes drive from the beach you will arrive at Monastery Chrisoskalitissa. It is an orthodox monastery that was built in the 17th century. A beautiful place for photos!

OLD TOWN

Chania’s old town is undoubtedly unique in its own right. These streets were built by the Venetians and the Ottomans, you can still find traces of former inhabitant on some of the buildings. Explore this charming old town and you will find many small bakeries, cafe, and bars around.

VENETIAN HARBOUR

Venetian harbour is considered the heart of Chania. You are able to experience different kinds of harbour view at any time of day. There are many restaurants and cafes along the harbour where you can enjoy the sea breeze while sipping a cup of locally brewed coffee. Do stroll along the waterfront and have a romantic walk towards the Venetian lighthouse.
VENETIAN LIGHTHOUSE

The Venetian lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouses in the world but now it is no longer operational. We highly recommend you to walk to the end of the harbour then you have a great view of the lighthouse as well as the harbour town from opposite.
HORSE-DRAWN CARRIAGE

There are horse-drawn carriages when you walk along the Venetian harbour and you can hop on one of those horse carriages to enjoy the beauty of Venetian harbour effortlessly.
RESTAURANT
MESOGIAKO

Lovely courtyard setting is one of the key attractions of Mesogiako and of course the restaurant serves delicious food with excellent services. Try risotto and salads are amazing too! This is a hidden gem because it is not on the main lanes.
AKROGIALI

We had late lunch here in Akrogiali situated not too far away from the Venetian harbour. The restaurant offers rather quiet ambience. This will be a great place for seafood lovers as the restaurant is famous for seafood. This is another great place to dine with a beautiful sea view.
THE WELL OF TURK
I have read many reviews about this restaurant. Unfortunately, we didnt have sufficient time for this restaurant so give it a try when you are in Chania and don't forget to tell me about it!
CAFES & DESSERT
DELIZIA GELATO

Good place to get gelato and coffee with ice cream here! Highly recommend the pistachio flavour which apparently it is made without sugar! Sounds healthy enough!
